Soprano | Singing Actor

ABOUT HEATHER LAKE

A latecomer to singing herself, Heather has enchanted New York and Arizona audiences with contemporary opera, 70's psychedelic rock, musical theater, Baroque and solo choral engagements.

In the 2022-2023 season, she has enjoyed a dynamic career in assisting with the Lincoln Center’s newest choral premier “Search for Spring” by Jonathon Dove, and returned to the highly acclaimed Shrine of the Ages Alumni Choir as a soloist for their Ireland tour “Songs of the Emerald Isle” under the baton of Edith Copley. Heather was the soprano scholar and soloist for Amherst Early Music Festival with one of America’s leading choral conductors Kent Tritle and she regularly sings in the Oratorio Society of New York. She rejoined the Amici Company’s last season (MSM Alumni troupe) to showcase musical and operatic theater for unique and intimate audiences. In addition to recent successes, she is featured in an upcoming concert at NYU singing Bach’s Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen with the Village Everein ensemble.

Her operatic experience includes roles in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette (Juliette), Viardot's Cendrillon (La fée), and Robert Ward's The Crucible (Abigail Williams) - scenes all while attending the Manhattan School of Music MM 21’. While attending Northern Arizona University, BA 2018, she received credits including in Die Zauberflöte (Queen of the Night), Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), and Britten’s Albert Herring (Mrs. Wordsworth).

A fiercely dedicated ensemble singer, Heather shows great strengths in musicality from her primary training in classical violin. She uses past string knowledge to connect mind and body as an instrument, phrasing, and overarching delivery in performance. Having a love for contemporary music, Heather has passionately worked with living composers and premiered works by Judith Cloud, Alexandros Darna, Struck Yi, and Jonathan Dove.

Heather was the first winning recipient for the Opera Singer of Promise Award 2018 at NAU, the 1st place NSAL award 18’, 1st place Advanced College Independent Student award NATS 18’, as well as winner of the Prescott Chorale’s Young Artist competition 18’.

Through her vocal journey, Heather has learned how to recover from vocal trauma. She hopes to influence students to love every part of their voice through meaningful practice habits with healthy vocal techniques, and the discovery of having fun with strengthening their voice. She is currently vocal faculty for the Virtual Dustin Kaufman Music School, and through her own private vocal studio.
